Hoisun Yung
Visual Artist
Hoisun YUNG was born in Hong Kong in 1980. He studied graduated in with MArch Architecture, RIBA Part II, University of Strathclyde (2020); 2007 BA Architecture, RIBA Part I, University of Dundee and 2003 BA Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
His recent work in the Big Art Show 2025 was as a Featured Artist. He produced "Ray" a series of drawings commemorating the Art Deco movement, specially created to mark the Art Department’s new beginning in an Art Deco building. Cross is a recurring element in his art practice, one that he has been using since studying fine arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Later, he began drawing crosses to form the silhouettes of spires, inspired by churches in Dundee—especially Dundee Westgait (Roseangle), which is located opposite the Architecture Department at the University of Dundee. He find repeatedly drawing crosses calms, humbles me, helps him through difficult times, and gives hope. Sun enjoys bold, colourful, and symmetrical style which continue to inspire.
