Printmaking Workshops
These workshops focus on developing printmaking skills through hands-on exploration of key techniques. You’ll be introduced to the spontaneity of monoprint, the rhythmic carving of linocut, and the layered possibilities of screenprint, learning the methods of each process and what makes it distinct. Through guided demonstrations and practice, you’ll develop confidence in printmaking to create layered imagery while experimenting with colour, layers and composition. Throughout the sessions you’ll be invited to explore the theme Traces of Daily Life - reflecting on the routines, spaces, objects, and fleeting moments that shape our everyday experiences. You can join individual sessions or build a cohesive body of prints across all six workshops, all within a relaxed, supportive environment that encourages observation, experimentation, and creative development.
Week 1: Monoprint
This session will explore monoprints distinct ability to capture traces and impressions as we create prints from textures surfaces, and patterns that surround us in our daily lives.
Week 2: Linocut
In this session, we’ll create linocut prints inspired by the rhythms, routines and patterns of the world around us, learning the basics of carving, inking, and printing by hand.
Week 3: Screenprint (Paper Stencils)
This workshop will introduce screenprinting with paper stencils. We’ll develop the idea of rhythm and repetition while exploring ways to translate everyday routines into screenprints.
Week 4: Screenprint (Watercolour Screens)
This session will teach a watercolour screenprinting technique—a loose, translucent process ideal for developing prints that focus on mood, atmosphere, and expressive mark-making.
Week 5: Screenprint (Layering & Registration)
During this workshop we will explore layering, print registration, and visual balance to create complex, multi-layered prints.
Week 6: Screenprint (Colour & Palette)
In this final session, we’ll focus on colour, palette development and strategies for making complex, multi-layered screenprints.
