Laura Dempsey studied Product Design at Glasgow School of Art. During that time her seat design sketches (an Honors project) were published as Finnie, Laura: Cassina Prize (G.S.A.) in Journal of Design Week. Her design of a hotel room for Cassina (an Italian Furniture company) won a prize in her third year, which led to her seat design being awarded first prize in her final year of Art School. She loves construction. “I enjoy mixed media to create atmospheric built environment images. The process is as important as the end result, having a design background has helped my art be unique.”
Laura lived and worked as an art teacher in the Middle East and Asia not to mention a mural commission in America, Laura has now returned home and enjoys revisiting the Glasgow buildings that are so memory evoking, adding touches of jewellery to enthral and captivate the viewer. Buildings take on the personality of the memory.
